In summer 2025, Allstate Construction brought us onto the Orman House renovation, a project already well underway and needing its landscape brought to a finish. Our initial scope was focused — complete the rock installation, the remaining irrigation, and the sod. With room left in the budget, we saw a chance to do more, developing a simple planting plan that worked with the improvements already in place and the material available at the time, then sourcing and installing it as the final phase. What began as a landscape completion became an opportunity to pull the elements together into a fitting setting for the renovated property.

What you see above ground is only part of the design. Planting, paths, and garden spaces are carefully coordinated with irrigation, utilities, and other systems below the surface. Bringing these layers together is an important part of creating a landscape that works as well as it looks.

Georgia bluestone lines the perimeter of the house, adding texture and definition along the foundation. A previously installed brick pathway lacked control joints, so our team cut them in to prevent future cracking and extend the life of the hardscape. Pine bark nuggets finish the planting beds throughout, and large limestone rock is placed at drainage outflows to manage water flow while adding a natural, sculptural element. A new irrigation system was installed to support the landscape's long-term health, paired with fresh sod to give the site a clean, finished foundation.

Distylium and Viburnum 'Mrs. Schiller's' add structure and year-round greenery throughout the beds, complementing the site's existing architecture and hardscape.

New sod was installed throughout the property, creating a fresh, healthy lawn supported by a newly installed irrigation system. Muhly grass adds movement and seasonal color along the landscape's edges.
